Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum Quilt Exhibit

The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Quilt Exhibit will be held March 1st - 31st.  During the years that the Pfeiffers lived in the home that is now the museum, Mary Pfeiffer always had a room full of quilts.  When area women came to the door offering their quilts for sale, the housekeeper was instructed to purchase any quilt, regardless of its quality or condition, at the current retail price in the catalogs. The gesture was a way to put a bit of money into the pockets of less fortunate families. The items were stored in the “quilt room” and in turn gifted to anyone who might come to the home in need of a quilt. This exhibit honors that tradition, as well as recognizing National Quilt Day on March 15.
